Make Your Own Sugaring Recipe

Sugaring is a hair removal method similar to waxing; the process is similar but the ingredients are different.
You can make your own sugaring solution at home. All you need is...
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • The juice of 1/2 lemon
  • A drop or two of molasses if you have any on hand
To apply the mixture you will need...
  • Something to store the mixture in, a glass jar or used makeup container works well
  • Something to apply it such as a popsicle stick or tongue depressor
  • Strips of muslin cloth
Combine ingredients in a bowl and heat in microwave or on stove just until it bubbles and becomes smooth.
Let it set until cool before using, though a little warmer than body temperature is better for use.
Make sure your skin is clean and dry and clear of any oils or moisturizers. You can apply a bit of cornstarch to your skin to make sure it's nice and dry.
Next, using the tongue depressor apply a thin layer of sugaring solution to your desired area following the direction of hair growth.
Then take a strip of muslin cloth and press it into the solution, stroking it firmly two or three times in the direction of hair growth.
Grip the end of the fabric and pull it off quickly against the direction your hair grows. If you do it too slowly it will be more painful and it may not remove all the hair, leaving solution behind.
Repeat until hair free!

The solution lasts and can be stored a long time in an appropriate container. Refrigeration is neither required nor recommended. In fact, if you find the solution becomes cool and too thick, you can heat it in the microwave for 20 seconds, or until it becomes smooth once more.
